Tarakan, North Kalimantan – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), in collaboration with Pertamina Foundation (PF) as the implementing partner, has launched the Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship Program (BSBK). BSBK is PHI's flagship CSR program in education, aimed at supporting the capacity building of young generations, particularly those from underprivileged families, by providing access to higher education. A total of 15 outstanding students from Kalimantan were selected as recipients of this scholarship and have started their studies at various universities.
One of the 2024 BSBK scholarship recipients is Dinda Regita Cahyani, fondly known as Dinda. Since childhood, Dinda has nurtured her dream of becoming a teacher who inspires and brings positive change to the field of education. With the support of the BSBK scholarship, she is now closer to achieving her goal of pursuing a degree in elementary school teacher education at Borneo Tarakan University.
While at SMAN 1 Bunyu, Dinda actively participated in National Science Olympiad (OSN) competitions in astronomy and biology to hone her knowledge and skills. Outside of school, she taught at her local Qur'an Education Center (TPA), which expanded her experience and solidified her commitment to positively contributing to society.
To support her family financially, Dinda sold snacks during major school events. After both of her parents retired, she became even more determined to pursue higher education to improve her family's economic condition. This determination has fueled her drive to excel, and the full BSBK scholarship from PHI has given Dinda a significant opportunity to earn a degree without financial burdens.
For Dinda, the scholarship is an invaluable support. "I feel so happy and grateful to be a BSBK recipient. I will make the most of this opportunity. I believe BSBK will have a positive impact on my potential and aspirations. Thank you so much to PHI. I wish PHI continued success, increased productivity, and ongoing contributions to our nation, especially in advancing Indonesia's economy," said Dinda.
Manager of Communication Relations & CID PHI, Dony Indrawan, explained that the BSBK program offers full undergraduate scholarships for high school graduates from schools registered in this program, particularly from underprivileged families. "This year marks the inaugural BSBK program, supported by PHI subsidiaries, including PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), and PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT)," he stated.
The BSBK program provides comprehensive support for its recipients, including tuition fees, living expenses, and capacity-building programs with an environmental focus. Additionally, scholarship recipients, such as the Aksi Sobat Bumi and Desa Energi Berdikari Sobat Bumi (DEB SoBI), participate in various social activities to raise environmental awareness.
Dony added that BSBK is part of PHI's efforts to empower talented young individuals. "The BSBK program is designed to help gifted young people access quality education. We believe this support is a vital step in creating a brighter future and shaping Indonesia's Golden Generation, who excel in achievements and environmental awareness," he concluded.
Through Dinda's inspirational story, PHI hopes to inspire more young people to pursue education, excel, and contribute positively to society and Indonesia's development.
