Tarakan – PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Tarakan Field recently conducted a simulation exercise to respond to emergencies, including fires, oil spills, and community demonstrations in the Tarakan Field area on Friday (7/6). The simulation involved approximately 400 stakeholders, including representatives from the Tarakan City Government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Police (TNI-Polri), the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Fire Department, Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Pertamedika Tarakan Hospital, and local communities.
The simulation began with a troop review at Masjid Baitul Izzah Islamic Center, organized by PEP Tarakan Field and Tarakan City Government. During the event, Acting Mayor Bustan emphasized the importance of collaboration in enhancing disaster preparedness. "Disasters can strike unexpectedly. Together, we synergize to be prepared for any eventuality. On behalf of the Tarakan City Government, I appreciate this initiative," he stated.
Field Manager Cahyo Tri Mulyanto underscored that safety is paramount in all company operations and business activities. He also expressed appreciation for the support from the Tarakan City Government, which ensured the successful execution of activities from troop reviews to emergency response simulations. "We believe that outstanding safety performance supports the success and sustainability of our oil and gas operations. Therefore, we continuously provide various safety training and skill development to reduce human error," he added.
According to Cahyo, simulations like these enhance readiness, train, and improve competence in handling disasters. "In case of an incident, we are prepared to coordinate effectively with all stakeholders, enabling quick and precise disaster response," he explained.
He emphasized that oil and gas sustainability production for Indonesia hinges on factors such as excellent safety performance and the ability to handle emergencies and disasters.
