Encouraging Students' Learning Spirit, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam Islamic Council Provides School Supplies Assistance for Children in Need

Kutai Kartanegara – As responsible members of the community, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) continuously encouraged its employees to nurture a spirit of sharing and strengthen social care for communities around its operational areas in East Kalimantan. This time, employees at the Senipah Peciko and South Mahakam (SPS) Fields initiated the Peduli Kasih Anak Yatim Program through the Islamic Council (BDI).

From employee donations, BDI SPS distributed school supply packages consisting of bags, stationery, drinking bottles, and pocket money to 50 children in need from Sanipah and Teluk Pamedas villages in Samboja District, Kutai Kartanegara. The assistance was handed over directly by SPS Field Manager, Hosna W. Nasution, on August 8, 2025.

In her remarks, Hosna emphasized the Company's belief that a harmonious relationship with communities and the environment surrounding its operations in Kalimantan supports the sustainability of oil and gas production, which is crucial for national energy security. "A harmonious relationship with the community can be realized through mutual care and sharing, as we did today in delivering school supplies to children in need," Hosna said.

According to her, the initiative by BDI SPS was a reflection of togetherness between the PHM family and the surrounding community. "We want this activity to become a sustainable commitment, so that every year, children in need around our operations can continue receiving the support they require. This assistance is only the beginning. Our prayers and support will always be with them, so they stay strong and brave in pursuing their dreams," Hosna added.

The handover event was attended by 50 children in need, ranging from kindergarten to senior high school, along with their teachers and caregivers. The beneficiaries came from 10 schools around the SPS operational area, including RA Assa'diyah Sanipah, MI Assa'diyah Sanipah, MTs Assa'diyah Sanipah, MI Al-Hidayah Samboja, SDN 013 Samboja, SDN 028 Samboja, SDN 019 Samboja, SDN 030 Samboja, SDN IT Samboja, and SMK Pesisir.

Through this program, PHM aimed to nurture and strengthen the children's learning spirit for a brighter future. "We believe that education is one of the main foundations to build an independent and knowledgeable society, as well as a better future for the next generation," she concluded.
