Jakarta– In its ongoing effort to promote the role of women in the energy industry, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) held an inspiring event titled "Women Empowerment," involving the PERTIWI community at the PHI office in Graha Elnusa, 12th Floor, Jakarta (October 10th, 2024). The event, themed "Gender Equality in the Energy Industry" with the tagline "Rise, Lead, and Inspire," featured several women leaders within the company who shared their experiences, challenges, and inspiring stories.
The PERTIWI community (PERempuan Pertamina Tangguh Inspiratif Wibawa Integritas), established in 2021, aims to create an inclusive work environment and promote gender equality for workers in Pertamina, where the oil and gas sector is predominantly male.
The President Director of PHI, Sunaryanto, stated that gender equality is not just a statement but a necessity. He believes that effective collaboration between men and women can yield significantly better results in the workplace. "With resilience and extraordinary capabilities to face various challenges, balanced and inclusive collaboration will lead the company towards better and sustainable development in the future," he said. The President Director also reaffirmed the company's commitment to a Respectful Workplace that values diversity and is free from discrimination, violence, and harassment. All leaders within PHI have signed this commitment.
Meanwhile, PHI's Commissioner, Meidawati, shared her inspiring career journey in the male-dominated energy industry as one of the speakers. "Women have tremendous potential to thrive in the energy sector, although the challenges are often greater. However, I believe women can succeed even more with strong determination, consistency, and a commitment to integrity. These challenges only strengthen me," she explained.
Other female leaders from PHI who served as speakers included VP of Business Support Farah Dewi, Chief Audit Executive Dahlia, SM Commercial Erma Melina S., and Sr. Manager of Human Capital Amilia Elvandari.
Dony Indrawan, Manager of Communication Relations & CID PHI, added that the company continues to support initiatives to promote gender equality, inclusivity, and women's empowerment, both in the workplace and in the community. The company believes a diverse and inclusive work environment will foster innovation and better performance. "Women's empowerment is a process where women are given power and opportunities. We want to demonstrate that women have the chance to pursue careers and the strength to lead change and inspire many," said Dony.
The Insightful Women Sharing Session, attended by over 150 participants, is expected to motivate women within the company to continue creating, innovating, and strengthening their leadership roles. Women's opportunities and strengths can result in extraordinary potential for success.
