Dedication to National Energy Resilience, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Group Workers Remain on Duty During Eid al-Fitr Holiday

Balikpapan – In a continuous effort to support national energy resilience, employees from PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI)’s subsidiaries and affiliates—particularly those working in upstream oil and gas operations in Zona 9 across East and South Kalimantan—remained on duty throughout the Eid al-Fitr holiday. Workers from PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field, PEP Sangatta Field, PEP Tanjung Field, and PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) ensured uninterrupted oil and gas production from their respective working areas.

Junior Officer for Facilities at PEP Tanjung Field, Tuti, continued to carry out routine operational monitoring and coordinated with her team during the holiday to ensure smooth field operations. She also supported the internal event organized by management on the first day of Eid, helping to ensure all preparations and needs were well met. “My colleagues and I in the field remain committed to ensuring uninterrupted oil and gas operations, driven by a spirit of solidarity and professionalism to help meet the nation’s energy needs,” said Tuti.

Similarly, an Operator at the Main Oil Storage (MOS) Production Receiving Center at PEP Sangasanga Field, Irwan, continued to oversee oil receiving and dispatch activities. According to him, working during the holidays is something he is already accustomed to, thanks to the rotating shift system. “Working hours remain normal, but we are still given some flexibility to observe religious practices,” he explained. While no special events were held, workers celebrated Eid by gathering for halal bi halal and shared meals.

“We are proud to remain on duty supporting national energy resilience. This is more than just a job—it’s a contribution to the greater good of society,” Irwan added.

Martinus, the security officer at PHSS, also protected the company’s operational and production facilities. In addition to his routine responsibilities, he took the opportunity during Eid to strengthen relationships with stakeholders and surrounding communities through courtesy visits. “With our two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off schedule, coordination continues to run smoothly via phone calls and messaging apps,” he said.

Martinus firmly believes that work is a form of worship. “Even during the Eid holiday, our spirit remains strong in maintaining security, ensuring smooth operations, and contributing to national energy security,” he concluded.

Every year, PHI Group workers continue to play a vital role in Indonesia's production of energy in the form of oil and natural gas. Upstream oil and gas operations run 24/7, without pause, even during major holidays, requiring a high level of dedication from employees and strong support from all stakeholders, including the government and local communities.
