Jakarta - One of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia's CSR flagship programs, the Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship Program (BSBK), has completed the interview stage for 32 students who passed the earlier selection phases. Based on the interview results, 15 students will be selected and eligible to receive the BSBK Program to support their education at the tertiary level.
The interview stage took place online on July 11-12, 2024. Interviewers from Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) and Pertamina Foundation (PF) representatives explored the candidates' backgrounds, motivations, leadership qualities, and self-potential academic and non-academic achievements while also assessing their communication skills. The names of the BSBK Program recipients are scheduled to be announced in August 2024.
Manager of Communication Relations & CID at PHI, Dony Indrawan, stated that the BSBK Program is a CSR initiative in the education sector organized by PHI in collaboration with PF.
"Through the BSBK Program, PHI aims to provide opportunities for sons and daughters of Kalimantan to pursue quality higher education. We hope that they will become young generations who contribute to improving family welfare and, importantly, the advancement of Kalimantan," said Dony.
Director of Operations at PF, Yulius S. Bulo, expressed pride in the spirit and quality of the BSBK selection participants in each stage. "Their enthusiasm has been remarkable from administrative stages, TPA tests to interviews. I see their earnestness in following each stage and meeting our judges' expectations," explained Bulo. He hopes that the BSBK Program recipients will become high-achieving students and serve as role models for their juniors.
The BSBK Program provides full scholarships for undergraduate studies to high school graduates and equivalent from participating schools, particularly those from less affluent families. As an inclusive program, it also offers equal opportunities to qualified individuals with disabilities. This year marks the inaugural year of the BSBK Program, supported by PHI's subsidiaries: PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), and PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT).
The four partner universities for this program are Universitas Borneo Tarakan (North Kalimantan), Universitas Mulawarman and Kalimantan Institute of Technology (East Kalimantan), and Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (South Kalimantan).
The BSBK Program underscores PHI's commitment to enhancing educational quality, particularly access to higher education. This CSR program in education also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), precisely Goal 4 on education, Goal 7 on affordable and clean energy, and Goal 13 on climate action, as scholarship recipients will be involved in the Sobat Bumi activation.
