Muara Badak – PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) participated with the Regent and Forkompimda Kutai Kartanegara in planting mangroves in Tambak Ramah Lingkungan to commemorate the World Mangrove Day or International Day of the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecoystem in Salo Palai Village, Wednesday (27/7).

World Mangrove Day is commemorated annually to support the preservation of mangroves, and rich ecosystems and become nursery habitats for fish and crustaceans. Mangroves also act as a natural coastal defense (green belt) against abrasion, storm surges, tsunamis, rising sea levels, and erosion. The commemorative activity began with the handover of shrimp seedlings, fishing gear, and probiotics to fishermen groups and continued with the planting of mangrove seedlings.

The Regent of Kutai Kartanegara, Edy Damansyah, expressed his appreciation to PHSS and the agencies involved. "Now is the era of collaboration with all elements in the community to be an important component in regional development. Together with PHSS, development in the Salo Palai area is expected to continue to run well," said Edy.

The series of activities was closed with the Sango Sango Seaweed Harvest at the Mangrove Tourism Pond, Muara Badak Ulu Village which is managed by the Salo Sumbala Sejahtera Fish Farming Group (Pokdakan).

PHSS Field Manager, Ade Diar Suhendar, explained that Pokadkan Salo Sumbala Sejahtera is a partner of PHSS since 2019. In collaboration with Muara Badak Ulu Village, PHSS continuously carries out coaching activities and program development support.

"Through a joint program in Muara Badak Ulu Village, the Company runs CSR programs in the economic and environmental fields in line with efforts to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)," said Ade.

On a separate occasion, Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Senior Manager Relations Farah Dewi said that the Company always collaborates with all stakeholders, especially the community and the government in carrying out community development programs or company CSR to create benefits and values that are enjoyed together (creating shared value).
