Balikpapan- To celebrate PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) 's 9th anniversary, one of its subsidiaries, PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT), organized simultaneous mass circumcision events across its operational areas. The initiative offered free circumcisions to 203 children, held separately in three locations: Lawe-Lawe Terminal, Santan Terminal, and PHKT Headquarters in Balikpapan on December 15, 22, and 23, 2024, respectively.

The event involved PHKT employees and several partners. For example, at Lawe-Lawe Terminal, PHKT Islamic Religious Board/Badan Dakwah Islam (BDI) workers collaborated with Petung Health Center in Penajam Paser Utara Regency. At Santan Terminal, the PHKT Christian Coordination Board/Badan Koordinasi Umat Kristen (BAKOR UMKRIS) partnered with Marangkayu Health Center in Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Meanwhile, at PHKT Headquarters in Balikpapan, the event was a synergy between the Indonesian Zakat Initiative/Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia (IZI) and Ibnu Sina Hospital Balikpapan.

This mass circumcision event reflects PHKT's commitment to contributing positively by providing free health services to the surrounding communities. "We ask for prayers from our employees and the local community that we may all be granted safety and ease in improving production. We hope Pertamina can continue to be a good neighbor, care for the communities near its operational areas, and grow together," said Muhammad Yasin, Superintendent of Production at Santan Terminal, representing PHKT management. He also appreciated all parties who contributed to the event's success.

In her remarks, Head of the Community Welfare Section representing the Marangkayu Subdistrict Head, Lili Herlina, expressed her gratitude for this initiative. "We thank PHKT, especially BDI and BAKOR UMKRIS Santan Terminal, for consistently organizing mass circumcision events yearly. Circumcision is not just a tradition but also an essential part of maintaining health," she said.

Lili continued that this initiative greatly benefits the communities of Semangko Village, Sebuntal Village, and Kersik Village, which are the closest areas to the company's operational sites. She noted that today's technology is much more modern and comfortable, allowing children to undergo the procedure more easily.

This mass circumcision event underscores PHKT's role as part of Pertamina's extended family. The company focuses not only on oil and gas operations but also on delivering tangible benefits to the community, particularly in its operational areas.
