Achieving One Year Without Workplace Accidents, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam Demonstrates Commitment to Safety and Sustainability in Oil and Gas Operations

Balikpapan – PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), has achieved a significant milestone in workplace safety by celebrating one year without workplace accidents (Lost Time Injury - LTI) on December 2, 2024. This event's theme of "One PHM, Come Back Stronger," served as a moment for reflection and a reaffirmation of PHM management and employees' commitment to continually enhancing health, safety, and security standards at work.

PHM operations recorded 391 days without workplace accidents, equivalent to more than 27 million safe working hours. This achievement highlights the dedicated efforts of all employees to uphold workplace safety, improve operational efficiency, and innovate to support the sustainability of national oil and gas production. This success serves as an inspiration to all stakeholders in Indonesia's energy sector.

During the One Year Without Lost Time Injury (LTI) celebration, PHM management and field leaders declared their commitment to implementing Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) principles. This declaration acts as a driving force toward achieving the company's goal of zero workplace accidents across all operational areas.

PHM General Manager Setyo Sapto Edi stated that PHM continues to drive innovation and sustainable improvements in safety across all company operations. "All PHM management is committed to leading by example in applying an HSSE culture to every work activity and fully supporting the completion of tasks with a focus on health, safety, security, and environmental protection," Setyo emphasized.

As a work area managing mature fields, PHM faces significant challenges in maintaining oil and gas production levels. In addition to ensuring safety, the company must optimize investment and operational costs to preserve asset economics and sustain national oil and gas production.

Setyo further highlighted the importance of adhering to the core values of AKHLAK (Amanah, Kompeten, Harmonis, Loyal, Adaptif, and Kolaboratif) and transparency in all aspects of work and business operations. "In line with these values, all employees are encouraged to continuously innovate, focusing on performance improvement to achieve recognition at both national and international levels," he stated.

He also reminded employees to always comply with existing regulations, especially those related to workplace safety and operations, while upholding the principles of transparency and anti-bribery as part of the integrity values that underpin the company's operations and business activities.
