Tabalong– Winning the Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship (BSBK) has become a significant milestone for Khairunnisa in achieving her dream of becoming a professional researcher in the environmental field. A student from SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung, South Kalimantan, she can now pursue higher education thanks to the scholarship program by PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) in collaboration with Pertamina Foundation (PF). 

Khairunnisa has been admitted to the Environmental Engineering Study Program at Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, Banjarmasin. "I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. The BSBK scholarship helps cover my college expenses, allowing me to focus on my studies and pursue my dreams," she expressed. Her success in securing the BSBK scholarship results from her determination and resilience in overcoming challenges. "I want to make my mother proud and happy for all her hard work raising her children." 

Khairunnisa comes from a humble family and is the third of four siblings. From a young age, her mother instilled independence and courage in her. Her mother single-handedly raised Khairunnisa and her youngest sibling, as her older siblings have left to work in other cities. 

During high school, Khairunnisa was active in various school activities, including serving as vice chair of the documentation extracurricular club. These organizational experiences honed her leadership and teamwork skills. 

Khairunnisa feels that her path to achieving her dreams is becoming more apparent after being selected as one of 15 recipients of the BSBK scholarship in 2024. The program provides comprehensive support, including tuition fees, living expenses, and capacity-building initiatives focused on environmental awareness. 

Additionally, scholarship recipients participate in various social activities to raise environmental awareness, such as the Aksi Sobat Bumi dan Desa Energi Berdikari Sobat Bumi (DEB SoBI). Environmental issues greatly interest Khairunnisa, motivating her to delve deeper into ecological science and contribute to impactful research. "I hope the BSBK Program continues so that more young people can pursue their dreams and make meaningful contributions to community development and environmental conservation," Khairunnisa said enthusiastically. 

2024 marks the inaugural year of the BSBK Program as part of PHI's commitment in collaboration with the Pertamina Foundation to develop high-quality human resources for Indonesia Emas 2045. This year, the BSBK Program awarded scholarships to 15 underprivileged students from Kalimantan. The program is fully supported by PHI's subsidiaries: PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), and PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT). PHI ensures that the program is implemented in an integrated and sustainable manner. 

PHI is optimistic that the program will serve as a platform for Kalimantan's youth to grow and excel.
