Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) Regional 3 Kalimantan, along with its Subsidiaries and affiliates in Zona 8, Zona 9, and Zona 10, received recognition for their energy efficiency performance from the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia. As many as 11 energy efficiency innovations carried out by the Company were included as candidates in various categories of the 2023 Subroto Award.

PHI President Director John Anis revealed that energy innovation is a spirit of sustainability implemented in all operational areas that PHI manages. "We continue to take strategic steps to implement energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and support Pertamina's energy transition policy," said John Anis Friday (01/09).

John Anis explained the work areas and oil and gas fields included in the 2023 Subroto Award recipient candidates. "The 2023 Subroto Award candidates are innovations carried out by PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), PT Pertamina Hulu "East Kalimantan (PHKT), and Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field, Tanjung Field, Bunyu Field, Tarakan Field, Sangatta Field," he explained.

One of the candidates for this award is an innovation called Green Environmental Oil Pump Installation (GEMPI), in the form of an environmentally friendly pump installation at PEP Tarakan Field to manage suspended wells with potential income reaching USD 4.7 million. Another innovation is the implementation of the Energy Management System at the Senipah Peciko South Mahakam (SPS) Field, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam.

"We believe that the application of innovation and technology is very important to support safe, reliable and efficient operations, able to withstand the rate of natural decline in production and maintain the level of oil and gas production in mature fields which is important for national energy security," said John Anis.

Furthermore, John Anis said that PHI and all its subsidiaries and affiliates always carry out oil and gas operations that are environmentally friendly and comply with all applicable regulations by the implementation of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) principles.
